Removing Threads Quickly

Rather than picking out each individual thread after ripping out yet another seam, lay strips of green painter's tape along the seam, finger press firmly, and then pull the tape away from the fabric.  Your strip of tape should pull out all of your stray cut threads, leaving your seam clean and without harming your fabric.

Seam Binding From Selvage

While cutting your sewing project out, cut narrow strips along the selvage to use instead of seam binding to reinforce your seams at the waistline and the shoulders.  This is a very thrifty alternative!

Rubber Band Seam Guide

In place of a magnetized seam guide, place a wide rubber band around the open arm of your sewing machine placing it at your desired seam width.  Fabric runs straight along the band at the proper seam width.
