Corner Seam Junction

Cross your seams, but don't pivot when sewing at the corner where two seams meet.

Pivoting can cause your fabric to distort, or twist which then can create a bump at the point that no amount of pressing will get rid of. Always stitch both seams away from, rather than toward, the point of intersection.

  1. How do you do this? Sew in one direction, go past the corner point (at an angle, like the illustration??), then... what? Backstitch to finish the seam? Start a new one going the other direction? Isn't that a lot of backstitching in one area?
